Prospect Watch : Who is P.K. Subban
There are a few young guys in the Montreal Canadien’s system that fans can look to as cracking the lineup in the next couple of years. One of those guys is P.K. Subban.
Subban posted some nice numbers in the OHL. Last season he had 14 goals and 62 assists for a total of 76 points in 56 games played.
Anyone who has watched P.K. play with Belleville, the World Juniors or in the Habs development camps can tell you that he can skate. Fast puck moving defenseman.
Just check out this clip from the World Juniors last year
P.K. Subban is also a guy filled with enthusiasm and love for the game. Who along with his father grew up a fan of the Montreal Canadiens.
Montreal fans have already taken a liking to him. Here’s a clip from this year’s Montreal Canadiens development camp.
Finally… here’s an interview with him and his family about growing up, the OHL and being a top prospect. This gives us a glimpse of P.K. Subban the person.
I for one can’t wait to see how Subban does this season. While he may not crack the lineup right out of training camp because there really isn’t too much room, I’m gonna be keeping track of how the Bulldogs are playing and how P.K. is performing. I expect Gainey and Co. will want to give him a year in the minors. But if there are any injuries to our D there’s a possibility that P.K. could see some time in Montreal. I’m sure he would love that as would many fans.
I’m excited about the upcoming rookie camp and all that follows.
What do you think about P.K. Subban’s future in Montreal?
