Prospect watch : Tom Pyatt

Back in the early months of the summer and just prior to the draft we all heard of that big trade that brought Scott Gomez over from the New York Rangers. In that deal we saw Chris Higgins go the other way…. a player that I enjoyed and had high hopes for.
Along with Gomez came his hefty contract which, I will admit, made it hard for me to swallow that deal. After “UFA season” opened and we signed Cammalleri and Gionta, who both mentioned the Gomez deal as a factor in their decision, I thought it might be shaping up. At least it didn’t look too bad…. we had some newly acquired offensive punch to replace that which had gone out with the players who were not being offered contracts to return.
In that trade came a player that at first I took no notice of. His name is Tom Pyatt.
So who is Tom Pyatt??

2009/2010 season 12th game highlights – Montreal Canadiens vs Pittsburgh Penguins

Here are the game highlights from the Montreal Canadiens vs Pittsburg Penguins, played on October 28th 2009.
This was Montreal’s 12th game of the season and certainly wasn’t there strongest outing. I’m a little concerned that the flu might go through the team as Metropolit was still feeling some effects and Scott Gomez had been questionable going into the game but did play.

Halak getting respect

We’re about 30 minutes away from game time. Montreal faces the Pittsburgh Penguins this evening and once again Yaroslav Halak will be in net.
It’s been a long winding road for Halak as the last couple of years it seemed like no matter what he would do, steal games, stop 50 shots…. he would soon sit. He didn’t see too many games in a row as most times the reigns were always given to Price.
This season, it seems as though Martin might be playing whoever is sharp.
I’m hoping that this is a real opportunity for both young goalies… they’ll both get the games, and they gotta perform.
Is this creating a real competition? Will this essentially push both?
Only time will tell.
