Yeah...I hate to give up on Andrei or Sergei because they both seem to have offensive talent, but their heart just isn't always there. Sergei needs to stop acting like a spoiled little child and earn his place with the Habs by playing hard and doing whatever the organization asks him to do. If he won't do that, then he needs to go. We've had enough stupid off-ice distractions last year, we don't need anymore.
Hopefully a 4th line demotion will be enough to get Andrei going again. He can be an important player for the Habs if wants to step up and be a complete hockey player and hit, skate, pass and score. I'd say if Andrei doesn't come around after 20 games....Gainey should be looking for someone to trade with.

I agree, the Habs did need a new identity. These guys are younger, faster and are arguably better 2 way players.

Just imagine Kovalev skating back to pic pocket an opponent entering our defensive zone... it barely happened. Gionta plays like that nightly.

I'm always hopeful for Andrei Kostitsyn. Even Sergei I suppose.

But the unless Sergei grows up and earns his spot, the drama isn't worth it IMO.

For Andrei, I wish he would find a way to use all that skill.... and he could even throw some hits... when he does he shows he's a strong guy.

Hopefully a demotion to the 4th line for tonight's game will give him (Andrei) a message. If not, I'm not sure what to think... maybe a change for both him and the Habs would be in order if things don't change soon.

The Habs needed a new identity and Gainey done that. He got hard working, gritty players with loads of talent and tons of speed. Yes they might be a little on the small side, but so far it doesn't seem to be a problem. Martin is a great coach and he has the boys playing hard and playing for their icetime....nobody is getting anything handed to them without deserving it first, and thats how it should be.
The Kostitsyn's should both be traded IMO. They don't have an ounce of heart between them. Andrei has a ton of skill, but no desire to use it. Trade them and get someone who wants to play. And as far as Price and Halak go....they should split the whole season and the hot goalie gets to keep playing. You have to earn your playing time with hard work and solid play.....no more giving a player icetime unless they deserve it and contribute to the team. Can't wait to see the game tonight...I hope they beat the Isles like they did last time.

Puckhead, lots of the moves I was unshure about at first.

But I personally think alot of these moves are great moves overall.

Martin is making some great moves in my opinion.... and these new guys are showing some good stuff.

I really didn't like how Price was handed the job either. Make ALL your players earn their spots. Even Sergei Kostitsyn!

I love the the work ethic that Cammalleri, Gomez and Gionta show every shift. They never give up on a play and they don't back down from anybody. Paul Mara is turning into one of our better defencemen as far as I'm concerned. Hammer and Spacek are playing well too. I love the way Martin has the team playing. Halak is playing solid in net, he deserves to play more games than he has in the past. I never liked how Gainey just HANDED the #1 job to Price.....a goalie should have to earn his playing time....not have it handed to him.

Kick ass blog by the way!!
