A little bit of Habs news today
Nov 26th
It was reported that David Desharnais is heading back to Hamilton. Desharnais played just under 8 minutes against the Penguins, no points and -1.
Hoping that he’ll be back sometime.
And RDS is reporting that Andrei Markov started skating and that there’s a chance that he could be back in the lineup as early as late December.
Imagine if Markov did come back healthy and ready to go by early January… just in time to get in sync for the playoff run….
Gomez, Spacek, D’Agostini and the newly acquired Benoit Pouliot were also skating today.
The game against the Penguins had the Habs down Markov, Gill, Gomez, Spacek, Gionta, D’Agostini and Andrei Kostitsyn…. am I missing a few???
The team played with effort and heart.
Imagine what this team may look like in Januray or February is these guys are back and the team is relatively healthy. I’m optimistic… At the rate of NHL injuries this year though…. there are no guarantees.

David Desharnais recalled from Hamilton
Nov 25th
David Desharnais has been called up from the Hamilton Bulldogs and with another possible injury, he may get the chance to show what he can do.
I really liked Desharnais in pre-season… a very unlikely success story just like teammate Brian Gionta and Martin St-Louis he’s a small forward at 5 foot 7.
David had a good season last year in Hamilton and this year due to injury he only played in 7 games. In those 7 games however, Desharnais has 4 goals and 6 assists.
You can find the official release on the Canadiens website here….
I hope he has a strong show tonight!

Habs fan charity fund raiser – Ryan Stotland
Nov 24th
I was recently contacted by Ryan Stotland about a huge charity project that he is currently working on. Ryan is working to raise money for Montreal’s Jewish General Hospital and the David Suzuki foundation.
This is certainly a huge project… here’s Ryan’s message:
Yves,
I am a huge fan of the habs and of your website. Right now I write to you from a town called Los lomas which is in Peru just before the border of Ecuador. I will cycle for two more weeks before finishing a 4 and a half month bike journey which started in Rio de Janeiro in Ecuadors capital city of Quito. In the process of doing this bike trip I raised funds for 2 charities (climate change and skin cancer). The institutions benefiting are the david suzuki foundation and the Jewish General Hospital respectably. Recently my friend (jack lee) from Montreal helped compile some of the pics I had been sending him with me wearing my habs jersey around the continent and made a music video. Pierre Boivin is also in the video saying that he endorses the ride and charities. Anyways I invite you to watch the video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDFLjsvG0AI and check out my website www.12000km.orgSo far I have raised roughly 104,000 dollars but have set my goal even higher.
It would be great to share the story with other habs fans on your site and hopefully get some of them to support two great causes.
Best wishes,
Ryan Stotland
I thought I would include the video here…. check it out, a die hard Habs fan trying to make a difference.
Ryan, you are certainly doing something amazing… trying to make a difference in the world… inspirational.
Best wishes Ryan!
