I think it's a possible scenario.

My guess would have been that a move or 2 might have been made closer to the trade deadline.

But, seeing as Brian Gionta has been injured and now we may be without Scott Gomez for a bit... I'm not sure if Gainey wouldn't be a little more pressured into making a deal.

But, then again... seeing as how the Habs played the last 2 games (win in Washington and tonight's comeback against the Red Wings)... maybe Gainey will wait a bit.

In my opinion, we get more of a chance to see what our guys are really made of.... Plekanec, Andrei Kostitsyn, Pacioretty...etc. This stretch without 2 significant forwards is the perfect opportunity to evaluate who you want to keep and who you want to deal.

Especially if they can stay in the playoff race.

Thanks for the comments Ron!

Here's a thought....Now that Carey is on track, let's show confidence in him and let him know he's NO. 1 for the season......We could always trade Jaroslav Halak to a team who really needs a goalie and pick up a good scoring forward to boost our depth in the scoring department....After all, we know, Halak will never be No. 1 in Montreal, but really he's good enough to be a NO. 1 on another team....Any comments. ???

I'm concerned for Gomez...

Really, loosing Gionta is huge... such a big part of the offense...

Losing Gomez too... that's a pretty big setback.

Gomez hasn't scored much but he's shown that when he's on he can really handle and pass that puck.

When Gomez,Gionta and Cammalleri have played together at times they've looked really impressive.

I hope it's nothing major.

Carey is still young, so ups and downs it is. He is on an up right now (Who's that Halak guy on the bench? Does he play defense?) and not a minute too late.

But if Gomez is gone for some time, that's a heavy blow. He doesn't score much, but Gomez lifts a ton of tough ice time from the shoulders of the rest of the lineup.

Yesterday I wrote:

"I feel strongly that finally, Carey Price got game. He will be a factor in tonight’s game.
Carey will win this game tonight on his own.
Then watch him against Detroit tomorrow.
St-Carey has arrived"!

He faced 34 shots, blocked 32. Carey has arrived.
Tonight he will have a SHUT OUT.
You heard it here first.
