I think Avtsin’s a great prospect to have but I’m a little uneasy with the fact that many of the european guys are reluctant to play in the minors….. it’s such an important step to the big league.

Very few players can go straight into the NHL without touching the AHL.

In my opinion he would be best served to play bigger, more important minutes in the Q. Playing against men in the AHL would be tough for any 19-year old, let alone someone who isn’t used to North American style hockey. While it’s great to hear that he wants to come over, I fear that he will expect too much too soon. He’s in for a big disappointment if he expects to be in the NHL in the next couple of years, and we’ve seen that players from Europe are reluctant to play in the minors before jumping to the NHL.
