Off season rumblings have begun
May 29th
Lot’s of talk already just days after the Canadiens playoff run ended.
I know that for some of you the interest in your favorite NHL team doesn’t end. For me, it certainly does not.
While the Habs were on their playoff run I tried to focus on their games. Current line ups, their performance etc…. while trying to leave the impending UFAs, RFAs, salary cap and that question that will keep lingering of which goaltender stays in Montreal??? Or IF they can somehow keep both.
Now that it’s the off-season (ok, not for you Hawks/Flyers fans) I’m starting to think about this stuff a little bit and am reading what other bloggers have to say as well as the media.
Certainly some interesting articles out there. Here are just a few.

Montreal Canadiens sign defenseman Kyle Klubertanz
May 28th
It was announced that Pierre Gauthier has signed free agent defenseman Kyle Klubertanz to a 1 year deal.
Kyle Klubertanz is a former 3rd round pick of the Anaheim Ducks.
From the Official Press release
The 24-year old Klubertanz is a 6’01” 180 lbs defenseman who hails from Madison, WI. In 2009-10, he played with Djurgardens of the Swedish Elite League. Klubertanz was tied for second in scoring on his team, first amongst defensemen with 31 points in 55 games (12 goals, 19 assists).
It’s a pretty minor signing…. but no sooner then the season and playoffs end do we see a little movement. Another US college defenseman to add into the organisation.
Oh yeah that’s right, the playoffs aren’t officially over are they??
Montreal Canadiens can’t quite beat the Flyers
May 24th
First off, I’d like to say congrats to the Philadelphia Flyers on their win and the trip to the finals. It stings a bit because the Habs were battling as a team so well.
But credit to the Flyers and Peter Laviolette for the way they played the Canadiens. I thought they played a very different game plan then the Penguins and Capitals did.
The big difference was that they didn’t seem to concentrate so much on “scoring goals”.. or how to beat Halak. They collapsed defensively much better then both the Pens and Caps. They played a better defensive game against the Canadiens.

My Birthday, the Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders…. 1993
May 14th
The year was 1993 and the day was the 14th of May 1993. It happened to be a friday night (just like tonight) and it was also my birthday (as it was today).
I had been watching the Montreal Canadiens season coming into the playoffs and was glued to most of those games just as I am today with Habs games.
Had just seen the the Quebec Nordiques win the 2 first games of their series vs the Habs and then the improbable comback of 4 straight wins vs Quebec.
Then there was the Canadiens – Sabres series that saw the Canadiens make short work of Buffalo in 4 games with the last 3 in OT. Lot’s of OTs that year.
