I think there's alot of positive.

I don't think to many people believed that keeping both guys was possible. I would think most people knew that there would be 1 goaltender that would be traded.

There are no questions this year. Price gets a shot. Last season there was always those questions... Halak/Price... Halak/Price... that's all over.

Also, I do understand that in Halak, the Canadiens did have a goaltender who stepped up and put on a great show last season. Especially in the playoffs. Halak will get his chance to repeat.... with the Blues.

But over the last 3 seasons, both Price and Halak's numbers are VERY similar. Some will say "but Price didn't win as many games last season"... that's true. What's also true is that all season long, the Canadien's defensive play was bad. The injuries didn't help.

Both Price and Halak played games where they (Habs) were incredibly outshot. Montreal was tied for 25th in shots against, and had THE FEWEST 5 on 5 goals in the league...

Halak's save % was .924 while Price's was .912. Very close.

One of the biggest problems in the Price/Halak saga (in my opinion)... was that Price was totally hyped up from the start... by media... by fans....

Give the guy some time to mature, to get seasoned... to grow as a player. A goaltender doesn't achieve the things he has to date by luck. Now it's up to him to face adversity and grow from it. Halak faced adversity most of his trek to the NHL, Price faced very little adversity compared to Halak.

This, I believe, is part of a natural progression in a player's career. This is his change to bring his game up to the next level. Adversity will be an ingredient to make or break.

I'm one of the guys who hasn't turned his back on Price as a young goaltender. I believe we'll see him become a solid number 1 the next couple of seasons.

If I'm wrong? Then I'm wrong.

Unfortunately, there's absolutely nothing about this that's positive. If there's something i'm missing here please advise, but based on everything i've seen, there's no doubt that the better goalie was moved, which succeeded in sucking all the momentum generated in last year's post-season out of la sainte-flanelle
