Rob, I agree.

I think he does need to prove himself. Then he gets the pile of cash.

And yeah, I agree with you... Tony is usually bang on.

Much like PK himself says... it's a business. Well, it's a business for Mr Bergevin too. And I think he has a responsibility to make a move that is good for the Habs above all. Which, in my opinion, is a hefty raise (going from 800k to say 3.5 million... that's a pretty nice raise) for a couple of years... then if he is consistent and is the top tier player he can be.

Give him his money. He's proven.

I think if Galchenyuk stays in Montreal and plays well... that will eventually eclipse some of the attention PK is getting.

All that said though, would I rather Subban sign. Absolutely.

Just won't bet the farm on him.

Yves, I gotta reply.
This is how I think this is going to pan out. P.K. wants Drew Doughty money? That isn't going to happen. He wants a long term contract? That isn't going to happen either. Especially not with all the young talent coming up from Hamilton. Suban has a ton of talent and no one is arguing that point. I happen to think he is a little delusional to think he try and command the dollars reported and hasn't hoisted the cup or consistently put up top 5 numbers at his position.
Another thing that bothers me is what I heard today. Tony M at TSN 690 reported that a local sports writer interviewed P.K. and it paints a poor picture of P.K. Tony reported that he read the interview to make sure he wasn't miss-interpreting what he was reading and basically it all comes down to money in P.K.'s eyes. Now I am not Tony's biggest fan because he toots his own horn way to much but the guy is usually bang on and if this is the case, the longer P.K. holds out, I think he will lose touch with the fans. Montreal fans like the grinders not the Whiners!
If P.K. can do this correctly, he can make his money and a lot more in this city. It's up to him.
