Thanks to YouTube user HabsFanThat, here’s a nice video of Montreal Canadiens prospect Sebastian Collberg scoring a nice goal.

Collberg is one of those guys to look out for, it’s quite possible that he’ll turn out to be a steal in last year’s draft. He can score goals and set ‘em up.

Look forward to continue seeing how he progresses.

A quick look at Dalton Thrower

Dalton Thrower was (I believe) a great pickup for the Canadiens at last year’s draft! Surprising that he was still there at 51st!

Thrower isn’t the biggest D-man around, but he doesn’t have to be. One thing that he has… work ethic. He’s described as a “blue collar” type defenseman who can move the puck and he can “throw ‘em”. Dalton Thrower is currently penned in at 6ft, 197 lbs (on the OHL’s website)

The type of guy that many teams need, not just our Habs, who will work hard and give his 100% with every game and won’t back down.

So far, in his 4th year with the Saskatoon Blades, Dalton has 1 goal / 1 assist in 5 games played. He’s a +1 and has 8 PIM. Last season was a great year for him and let’s hope much success for him this season!

Habs NHL Lockout Filler for Sep 30th 2012

Brady Vail is sure off to a great start for the Windsor Spitfires!

Vail had 2 goals and 2 assist in a 5 – 2 win over the Sudbury Wolves today. That puts Brady tied for 2nd in OHL scoring with 4 goals and 5 assists in 5 games.

Brady was the 4th round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2012. Great to see him off to a great start!

Prospect Watch: Brady Vail starts season well

Habs prospect Brady Vail is starting the season well for the Windsor Spitfires scoring a goal and having an assist in 2 games.

Scored the game winning goal on Monday night as the Spits went on to win 3 – 2 against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Alex Galchenyuk watch has begun!

Despite the NHL’s work stoppage there is lot’s of great hockey to be seen.

One fellow that has been on most Habs fans radar is 3rd overall pick Alex Galchenyuk. He’s recently been named the Sarnia Sting‘s team captain (read it here) and last night the Sarnia Sting played their first regular season game vs the Belleville Bulls (and the other Subban brothers).

The Sting lost the game but Alex did pick up his first point as he assisted on their only goal. You can view the game summary here.

Besides the fact that ever Habs fan may want the NHL season to start, I’m sure that for now every Habs fan would love to see Alex dominate in the OHL.

Nathan Beaulieu’s got a little sandpaper

I’ve barely been watching the playoffs this year and I’m just starting to get into the “off season” gear with the draft coming up and all the new faces coming into “Habs land” like Marc Bergevin and Scott Mellanby coming to town which I think is great. Team is looking quite different in the office. At least, it is in my mind!

But here’s something that really surprised me. Nathan Beaulieu drops the gloves??

I like seeing players with grit. The guys obviously got great skating and offensive skills and add some sandpaper in his play?? Cool.

Only thing, in my mind, is that I wouldn’t want it to turn into what happened to Sheldon Sourray. Mind you that Sourray was a bit of a different player. So let’s hope that no wrists or hands get hurt!

Welcome Louis!

Glad to see you aboard. I’ve wondered just how you would fare in the NHL in the big league. You’re a talented young hockey player and not only that, you are also quite intelligent.

Hope tonights Game goes well for you.

Let’s be consistent

In California for 3 games against the Ducks, the Sharks and the Kings. And there is no Pacioretty in the lineup due to the 3 game suspension that was given after the Penguins game.

My wish list for this road trip is simple. Consistency.

I would look for this all across the board. From the line combinations to the intensity on the ice (and please, let’s be intense!) I’d like to see this team fire away at the opposing team’s goaltender. Keep it simple, far away from the pressure cooker of the hometown crowd (probably good for both Leblanc and Budaj), it’s an opportunity for these guys to make the simple plays and build some confidence.

Will it be easy? I doubt it. In today’s NHL, I doubt there is truely an easy stretch on the schedule. But this is a chance to get some of the positive energy that a young guy can bring to a team, playing his first game.

None of these 3 teams they will face are having stellar seasons…. but sometimes it seems to be harder to win against a struggling team.

So tonight and the next 2. Let’s not go the way of the yo-yo….. let’s be intense…. consistent.
