NHL hands Georges Laraque a 5 game suspension
Nov 23rd
The NHL ruled on the knee on knee hit or collision between Georges Laraque and Niklas Kronwall.
Laraque is suspended for 5 games without pay.
I expected that the NHL could give Georges anywhere from 5 to 8 games.
Kronwall is expected to miss anywhere between 4 to 8 weeks. Another significant injury in the multitude of injuries in the NHL this season.
You can find all the NHL’s press release here.

I was recently contacted by Adam from the Celebrities for Charity Foundation about a new charity raffle for 2 tickets to a Bruins vs Canadiens game, choice between the game played in Boston on February 4th 2010 or the game played in Montreal on February 7th 2010.
2 well known players are involved with this celebrity raffle. Montreal’s Georges Laraque and formerly of the Boston Bruins Ray Bourque.
The proceeds for this raffle will benefit the Celebrities for Charity Foundation (Ray Bourque) and the Montreal Based Children’s Charities (Georges Laraque).
The winner will be able to meet both players and recieve autographed jerseys from both.

Thinking about the team 3 games in
Oct 7th
So we’re 3 games into the 2009/2010 NHL season. In these first 3 games there’s been many ups and downs already.
The Canadiens have had 2 big injuries and 1 minor injury in their first 2 games and thankfully last night everyone made it out ok!
Here’s a few thoughts on some ups and some downs so far (in no real particular order).

2009/2010 and the new Georges Laraque
Sep 13th
When I had heard that Gainey had signed Georges Laraque to a 3 year deal last year, I was thrilled.
I had seen the Montreal Canadiens get pushed around a bit too much for my liking and I was sure that Laraque would provide some of the much needed toughness that was plaguing the team the few previous years.
But last season was a disappointment for Laraque, something I’m sure he’s aiming at making better this year.

Thinking about the changes made after the first game

Thursday night.. at long last the 2009/2010 NHL season got underway. Getting back to Habs hockey…. love this time of year.
I got to watch a good chunk of Thursday’s game. I missed some of it so I’m not going to write a game recap or anything like that. But there were a few things that I did notice that I thought were worthy of a comment.
I can remember last season, and the season before and etc…. The Montreal Canadiens had a core of players for a good number of years, the veteran guys who weren’t brought back…. some who just up and left.
