A few reasons to believe the Habs can win tonight

Penguins vs. Canadiens in NHL Eastern Conference Semi Finals in Pittsburgh

The Canadiens face the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Bell Center in Montreal tonight… and might I take this time to welcome Sidney and his crew to the most intense hockey crowd in the world.

Here’s a few reasons why I think the Canadiens deserve a little credit and why they can win.

Besides the fact that shutting down the Capitals offense for 3 consecutive games and taking them in 7 games surely wasn’t any luck or bad luck. This time of year is about “want”, “desire”, “hunger”…. you better believe it.

Don’t count anyone out until they’re out.

Training camp approaches and rookie camp is announced for 2009

Here we are in september…. I can almost smell it! Well, not really but you know what I mean.

Ever since the Montreal Canadiens were knocked out of the playoffs last spring I’ve been waiting for training camp.

Well, if I back up a little bit I should say that first my anticipation was focused on the NHL entry draft. Who would they pick?? I was pleased with the draft, I don’t think there are too many scouts who would be considered better than Trevor Timmins.

A look at possible player achievements for 2009

The pre-season is almost with us! Just gotta wait a little bit longer to see some “bleu-blanc-rouge” hockey!

I thought I’d take a look at what we could see individual players achieve in 2009. What career achievements could be made by players on the Habs roster. I haven’t listed all the possible numbers…. but listed many.

So here’s my little preview!

Montreal Canadiens win Stanley cup in 2009, on someone’s XboX

That’s right folks!

I wasn’t aware, but it seems as though the Montreal Canadiens did in fact win the Stanley cup in 2009!!

Only, it was on someone’s Xbox 360… and not in real life. They did however reach the finals VS the Sharks in this one.

Please, enjoy.

Chipchura back to Hamilton

I imagine Chipchura is disappointed. I must say that I’m also a bit disappointed as I was hoping that Chipchura would stick with the big team this year.

Chipchura has vision and smarts.. I guess that the major knock always mentioned is his speed. He’s just not fast.

After being introduced with the team last night in the opening ceremony where I’m sure he was wondering exactly if he would get a shot in the lineup.

I guess I had hopes for Chipchura over the last couple of years.

The Habs lineup is deep for guys trying to come in and grab a spot.

Game time approachs and Laraque is in for opener!

Tonight, the Bell Center will rock!

I really wish I could be there…. but I will certainly settle for watching the game on RDS.

Earlier today, I read that Georges Laraque will be in the lineup!
I think he’ll definatly be an important part of the team this year… .easpecially
with rivals like Boston who have got some physical players as seen last year.
Lucic will probably want to try and hit Komisarek quite a bit like last year…. a kind of play that Komisarek certainly doesn’t mind himself.
That new element of having one of the toughest guys in the league who can police what goes on should really help the Habs. Boston is a team that can turn to “goonery” quite fast when they’re out of the game… and Laraque will definatly help. Philly is another one of those teams… think Big Georges was taken notes the other night??
Plus, really, Laraque does have pretty good hands… put him around the net and he can put some pucks in the net. It’s not like he’s just a tough guy… he can play hockey.
I’m so excited for this game!!
Go Habs!

Habs trivia by Robert L

This post of Habs facts is neat. I’ve never really been a trivia buff although I have read + watched many this on Habs history.

This has 100 Habs season facts and trivia with some misconceptions “debunked” by Robert.

Great read!

Find it here:

Welcome to the new blog!

Hi there!

Welcome to this new blog. I’ve had a personal blog for some time and do write about the greatest hockey team (yeah, I know some people who happen to come across this blog may not agree….. but I don’t care… this is my blog!) but I thought I’d start up this blog, solely reserved  to everything habs… and probably the other occasional hockey/NHL blurbs.
I was really looking forward to this new season…. ever since the Habs got knocked out of the playoffs.. and by the time training camp began, I can’t tell you just how excited I was. No that the new season has begun….. I love it. Habs hockey is back.
;-)
